Our dedicated group of volunteers are too numerous to list, but they all deserve special recognition for their effort in making the Rochester Makerspace a reality. Our volunteers have worked tirelessly creating furniture for the space, performing administrative and organizational tasks, and completing other necessities that keep us going. Without people willing to donate significant amounts of time to the space none of this would have been possible.

We can’t thank you all enough, so once again Thank You! It’s been a pleasure working with all of you thus far, and I know everyone on the Rochester Makerspace team feels the same. I hope I have included all of our donors on this list. If I’ve missed you please Contact Us, so I can get it right!

If you’re interested in becoming a Founder’s Club member, or would like to make another financial contribution to the Makerspace please see our Donate page or follow this link. We also have a Wish List that describes what we need and a Volunteer Survey for those who would to donate time.

Again many thanks! We look forward to seeing you all and working with you soon.

Awesome Open House Last Night!

Hey everyone! Just wanted thank you all for coming out last night, as well as offering a couple of reminders.

Members Congregating During our Open House

A big group at this week’s open house.

Last night’s Open House was busy, populated with new people, and very productive for our community at the Makerspace. We met with some new potential instructors, talked about their classes, and have some dates scheduled which we will be presenting you all with soon.

Furthermore it was exciting to see everyone getting to know each other, talk about their own projects, and sharing ideas because that’s what the Makerspace is about! We hope that everyone who came last night will continue to attend each week, as we all had a ton of fun, and it’s a good opportunity for all of us to begin working together.

As a reminder we will be holding our first Safety Orientation for new members next Thursday night. If you would like to be a member of the Rochester Makerspace Join, sign up for the orientation, and bring your Membership Agreement and Liability Waiver with you to the orientation session. Upon meeting those requirements you be given general access to the space and a key fob, allowing you to use the space any day between the hours of 8am-10pm.

I’d also like to remind everyone that there are still spots available for individuals or businesses to join our Founder’s Club. Anyone who donates a $100 or more to the space will earn their spot in the club, as well as their name on a metal plaque that we will display prominently in our space. This is a great way to support an organization that is actively promoting creativity, learning, and sharing in the Rochester community. If you’d like to contribute in some other way please check our Donate page as well as our Wish List.

Again thank you to everyone who came out last night, making our Open House fun and enjoyable for all! We hope to see you all next week. For daily updates or to interact with us please check us out on our Facebook Page. Also, if you have any further questions please feel free to Contact Us.

May Status Update

Hello All,

We know it’s been a bit since we’ve done a status update, but our attentions have been elsewhere. We’ve had a busy couple of months readying our space at 850 St. Paul St., meeting with various organizations in the community, and introducing people to the Rochester Makerspace during our open nights, including the Open House we hold every Thursday from 6-10pm.

What’s New

We’re officially open and taking memberships! After signing up and taking a safety orientation (Yes, those are running too), members have access to the space from 8am-10pm. Follow this link to join!

Our first round of classes at the Rochester Makerspace have completed and were very successful. We are still searching for instructors to head our next round of classes. Please contact us if you’re interested.

Our wood shop is fully functional and our SawStop table saw has arrived. This acquisition will certainly make our shop safer and help members gain confidence with this tool.

Our great group of volunteers and donors have helped us build out the Rochester Makerspace, providing us with plenty of workbenches, light fixtures, and other necessitates for our space! For all those that have contributed to this point, Thank You!

Volunteer Opportunities & Donations

If you believe in our idea and would like to help provide Rochester with a Makerspace that the entire community can use and be proud of please consider donating! We also have a Founder’s Club for donors of $100 or more. For more information on this program follow this link.

New volunteers are always needed at the Rochester Makerspace. We have a complete list of who we are looking for on our Wish List page, but there are a couple of volunteer positions that we need to fill quickly. They are:

  • Writers – Including providing regular status updates and/or blog posts, writing ads, letters, and other promotional materials. Grant writers are also needed.
  • Marketing/Promotions – To develop, create, and distribute promotional materials about the Rochester Makerspace. This includes graphic designers and experienced brand developers.
  • Volunteer Coordinator – Managing volunteers, projects, and supervising efforts.
  • Officer Positions – We are currently lacking a Secretary. We also need an Assistant Treasurer and Assistant Secretary.

Large time commitments are not necessary to help produce this vision. All that is necessary is consistency. We value any amount of time people are willing to donate to this effort, and hope that you will consider contributing. To help us by volunteering. Contact Us.

In Closing

Again thank you to everyone who has helped, volunteered, and donated to the Rochester Makerspace! We’ve accomplished great things together and we have much more in store.

If interested please Join or come visit us in the space on Thursdays in between 6-10pm. We are located at 850 St. Paul St.. Parking is in the back of the building, walk through the big bay doors, and take a left down the hall.

Look forward to seeing you there!

Join The Founder’s Club!

Hello Everyone!

First, we want to thank all of you who have helped us get to this point through interest and support, volunteering, or donating money and tools.  Together, we have already done something difficult and incredible, but there is still a lot of work to do and many problems to be solved.

We want to create a organization and facility that every member of our community can use and be proud of. Now that we have a space we want to fill it as quickly as possible with users and events. In other words, we want to get off to a fast start instead of a slow one. To do that we still need some essential tools and other items, and we can’t keep asking the same generous supporters to buy them for us.

So, we are starting a Founder’s Club, which will be made up of the first 100 donors who contribute $100 or more to the Rochester Makerspace.

By donating to the Founder’s Club you’ll get bragging rights and your name will be displayed on a commemorative plaque that will forever be prominently displayed in our makerspace. Most importantly, you’ll help ensure that we become a successful and sustainable organization that will benefit the entire community.

We realize that many of our supporters can not afford $100 and that’s OK.  Even a few dollars will be a huge help and no contribution is too small! We appreciate anything you can give. To donate any amount please follow this link.

We have been blown away by all the support and response we have received thus far about this project, and we can’t wait to share this incredible organization with you and the Rochester community.  Please make sure to “Like” us on our facebook page!

A Big Thanks,
The Rochester Makerspace
