My name is Eric Loyd and I am the founder and CEO of Bitnetix, a VOIP and IT consulting company that provides custom voice solutions to small businesses and non-profit organizations.  I attended RIT for microelectronic engineering and have since worked in IT related fields for 25 year at places like RIT, Kodak, Frontier, Global Crossing, and of course my own company.

I am happy to provide whatever experience and wisdom I can, both as an entrepreneur, technical person, or service provider (Bitnetix would be happy to provide phone service for the Maker Space when the time comes).

You can catch me at my first name at bitnetix dot com if you wish to contact me.  In the meantime, I will continue to offer my advice offline to Rob as he requests it.  :-)

Hello Eric!, and welcome to our community. It's great to have you on board, and I hope that you do and/or will have more interest in making things when we are through.

Now with microelectronic engineering, does that mean you make circuit boards, PCBs, or design them? I've really been looking to learn how to create my own, was hoping to take a class at MCC, but am unable to go outside of degree. That actually is sort of how I got here.

Do you have any hobbies? Or do you have projects you wish you could complete and can't? Again welcome!

Wyatt,

My goals for the Rochester Maker Space are to assist Rob from a business standpoint.  I honestly have very little desire to use the space at this time, since running and growing my business takes 80+ hours per week.  As to my micro-E background, my studies were in circuit design, fabrication and manufacture, but I honestly haven't done that since college  (which was a long time ago).  I turned into an IT entrepreneur and haven't touched a soldering iron or scanning electron microscope in decades.  :-)
