Hi Bob,

Welcome!  I hope you'll come and visit us soon.  We're still waiting for the landlord to install a keycard access system so we're still not open regularly.  But we're working on getting that done and next week we hope to be open much more often. Quite frankly, we still have a lot to figure out and do and it will probably be another couple of months before things are running the way we'd like them to.

We can very much use some more help and I'd appreciate it if you'd call or send me an email via our contact page.  I also want to encourage you to join our volunteer discussion group.

We're still having regular work sessions at the space to build workbenches and do other things to get it ready.  We're having one tonight (Thursday 11/21) and Saturday morning, 11/23 (when a large group of us may be leaving at 10:30 to pick up a 400-pound planer).

We also want to encourage everyone to bring their projects in and use the space for free for the rest of the month.  We have some fun / interesting things that you can do if you're looking for something to make or do. For example, we have a 3D printer, an RC tricopter we've been building, and an Arduino based "paintball sentry."  We will also be doing stained glass in the space soon and having classes.

I'm Bob Walton  I'm interested in learning more about the MakerSpace, and helping out.  I just heard about it today, so I'm a complete newbie.  I'm an electrical engineer specializing in feedback control systems and the mathematical modeling of dynamic systems.  I'm also trained in watch repair, and still have my tools.  I'm retired from Kodak, and am working part time for Optimation Technology, Inc.  I'm into computer languages, particularly Octave (Matlab), Perl, and VHDL.  I like fixing things, particularly small things.
