It doesn’t matter what you make. Working with tools leads to learning.

You learn new skills and different ways to apply old ones. You learn how to find solutions to problems. And you learn how to plan ahead and to persevere.

Working with tools develops useful marketable skills and positive character traits you won't learn by watching TV, playing video games or surfing the net.

How can I get involved?

The people of Rochester are a talented group, and we are constantly in search of self-starters who are looking to give back to their community, seek to inspire and lead others, gain marketable experience, and put their skills to good use.

There’s no job too big or small, and experience isn’t always a prerequisite. Join our Volunteer Group and let us know how you want to get involved.

We are currently building workbenches and other furnishings for the Makerspace. If you have little-to-no woodworking or metalworking skills this is an awesome opportunity to learn, and if you have previous experience that’s great too!
Attend a meet-up or join our volunteer group to let us know if you would like to be a part of this effort. Please check our blog for our meet-up times and announcements.

We are also looking for volunteers for the following

  • Instructors & Shop Managers
  • Fundraising & Grant Writing
  • Writing & Content Development
  • Social Media Mavens
  • Marketing & Promotions
  • General Help
