1/19/16 Meetup at Rochester Makerspace!
The Faire on Saturday (11/21/15) was a blast! Thank you to everyone who visited our booth and checked us out! Special thanks also to our dedicated volunteers who landed their support through the event from preparation to cleanup. Everyone did a phenomenal job!!
For those of you who didn’t, we had a 3D printer and wood cutter set where we our specialists created samples for our visitors, many of whom got to see plastic 3D copies of their faces!t
We also had samples from the stained glass meetup group. There was plenty of computer gaming and programming as well.
There was also a Rubiks Cube contest where our guests got to compete for a 1 month membership and a $20 gift card!
Overall, this year’s Mini Maker Faire was a success. Can’t wait till next year’s!
Hey everyone! Just wanted thank you all for coming out last night, as well as offering a couple of reminders.
Last night’s Open House was busy, populated with new people, and very productive for our community at the Makerspace. We met with some new potential instructors, talked about their classes, and have some dates scheduled which we will be presenting you all with soon.
Furthermore it was exciting to see everyone getting to know each other, talk about their own projects, and sharing ideas because that’s what the Makerspace is about! We hope that everyone who came last night will continue to attend each week, as we all had a ton of fun, and it’s a good opportunity for all of us to begin working together.
As a reminder we will be holding our first Safety Orientation for new members next Thursday night. If you would like to be a member of the Rochester Makerspace Join, sign up for the orientation, and bring your Membership Agreement and Liability Waiver with you to the orientation session. Upon meeting those requirements you be given general access to the space and a key fob, allowing you to use the space any day between the hours of 8am-10pm.
I’d also like to remind everyone that there are still spots available for individuals or businesses to join our Founder’s Club. Anyone who donates a $100 or more to the space will earn their spot in the club, as well as their name on a metal plaque that we will display prominently in our space. This is a great way to support an organization that is actively promoting creativity, learning, and sharing in the Rochester community. If you’d like to contribute in some other way please check our Donate page as well as our Wish List.
Again thank you to everyone who came out last night, making our Open House fun and enjoyable for all! We hope to see you all next week. For daily updates or to interact with us please check us out on our Facebook Page. Also, if you have any further questions please feel free to Contact Us.
Just wanted to notify everyone that we will be in the space on Thursday (02/21) starting at 6:00pm for an official work meet up. We will be doing a number of things, including but not limited to:
Although this is a work night, please feel free to stop by, see the space, and meet us.
If you are interested in becoming a member, an active participant in our group, or want to donate to our efforts please stop by and see us or contact us.
Look forward to seeing you all there!
Just a quick reminder and/or notice to all of our supporters that we will be having an informal meet-up at the space tomorrow night at 6:30pm. One of us will be in the space by 6:00pm if you want to come early, hang out, and talk with us or other members.
Our intention is to show the space to anyone who is interested, and to talk about our first project: Building workbenches for our space. If you want to volunteer, be involved in that effort, or want to share what times work for you please come and let us know.
If you can’t make it please join our Volunteer Group to be updated on the project.
We will also have time to answer a few questions. However this will not be a brainstorming session. We need to focus on what’s pertinent for the coming weeks, use our time wisely, and ensure that our message is clear. Thank you for understanding.
Here is a map of the space’s location. Google also has an image for point of reference. To get into the space turn down Scrantom St. off of St. Paul. Drive to the back of the building and you will see a gate to a parking lot to your right. Turn in, park, and walk in through the big bay doors. Go through the door, turn left down the hallway, and you will see us congregating.
We will be ordering pizza for everyone at 6:30pm, so come hungry! See you there!
